Happy 2007!

Well, it's a little late in the year to be buying calendars for 2007, but I still wanted to show you the Celebrating Life 2007 calendar I did for the Blood and Marrow Transplant Information Network.

My (now) Fiance nominated me to be one of the chosen people to be in it (because of my autologous stem cell transplant). I was picked out of 100s, then they found out I was an artist and suddenly I became the "cover girl". It was a pretty exciting experience for a WONDERFUL non-for-profit organization.

"Blood & Marrow Transplant Information Network is a not-for-profit organization dedicated exclusively to serving the needs of persons facing a bone marrow, blood stem cell or umbilical cord blood transplant. Founded in 1990 by bone marrow transplant survivor Susan Stewart, BMT InfoNet strives to provide high quality medical information in easy-to-understand language, so that patients can be active, knowledgeable participants in their health care planning and treatment. "

So, Happy 2007, while it lasts! I know I'm going to try to squeeze everything I can out of the next 2 1/2 months!

Today, I am grateful for: having art as an outlet that helps me and others and feeling safe

And guess what? Shanghai Surprise won a spot in the "showcase cabinet" at school. A first for me! Pretty cool :).

Love,
Rachel

I was talking about art as therapy on my art blog today...and it is very therapeutic. It offers us such an outlet for our emotions and our feelings. I'm so happy that you were chosen as the "cover girl" -- your work speaks for itself and it is wonderful to be able to give back in this way.

Enjoy every drop that is left of 2007. Rachel, something tells me that with the attitude towards life you have...you will be squeezing every drop and being grateful for each one!!
