Well, about a year ago or so he came to the library by my house and spoke. He told stories and was promoting his new book. He was one of the best speakers I have heard and I try to remember what he does when I do some of my speaking engagements...I also felt fortunate enough to get to meet him briefly afterwards and tell him what meaning his books have had in my life. I read Tuesdays with Morrie when I, myself, was 'dying' and it had significant meaning.
Anyways, his book is For One More Day. It is an quick but powerful read. It is about if you could spend one more day with someone you love, what would you do? He wrote it as a tribute to his mother who is still living.
Tonight, the TV movie will air on ABC. I am looking forward to watching it!
Air date: December 9 at 9/8c on ABC starring Michael Imperioli, Ellen Burstyn, Samantha Mathis and Scott Cohen .
Today, I am thankful for: another day to try to heal from this lingering flu/cold, a new red Treo cell phone to play with, the end of the semester within reach, being with friends and family, God and brief times when I have felt a little better
Loved tuesdays with morrie....have had to read it several times for health psych classes, etc. Couldn't get into "the 5 people you meet in heaven".....haven't read this one yet, but my mom has it at her house.
Do tell about the red Treo!! Is it the new one that just came out??? Do you love it? :)
Jaime-Yes, I've liked all his books...
The red Treo is the 680. Not sure if it's the 'new one' but it's the best Cingular/At&t has, I believe...My old phone was falling apart-the light didn't work after a Gatorade drenched it and the buttons were starting to fail...I really like the Treo, still getting used to it :). My fiance talked me into it, he is Mr. Technology. heehe.
...and I have my new phone as well ;).
Hi. I read your post on Nikki's carepage. I just read your story & it was very encouraging. I have a 15 month old daughter that is currently receiving chemo for Ewing's Sarcoma & then will get radiation. Carepage: ryleelynn
One of the girls that I met at the hospital had been reading Tuesdays with Morrie & it sounded pretty interesting. I'm going to try to watch the movie that's on tonight.
Thanks again for sharing your story!
Yes, I love you too and your IPhone. Thanks for tonight :).
Hey Rachel, just wanted to let you know that the Rep is putting on a production of Tuesday's with Morrie from January 2nd through January 27th. If you are interested you and Gabe should go see it sometime maybe when Hans and I go. Just thought I'd let you know since you love the book so much! -Diana
P.S. since you have a student I.D. card you could get student rush tickets for like $8.
My mom called me to watch it but I didn't have time. She LOVED it. I haven't read the book yet but will certainly put it on my "must read soon" list :)
Thanks for the comment on my blog. Sorry you had a rough week too. I keep reminding myself that it's only a few more weeks till I get some Christmas holidays.
hjpl-I visited your page :). Hope you enjoyed the movie as much as I did!
Diana-I DID know about that! Heehee. I want to go!! Gabe even said he'd go and he hates plays but loves Mitch Albom and his work, esp. after we heard him speak!
Jamie-Sounds good! Thanks for your comments :)!
Rach - your fiance has an iPhone? I just got one about 3 weeks ago, I switched from a BlackBerry....how does he like it? I'm still getting used to it, I have moments when I hate it and moments where it's my one and only love.....
He loves his iPhone! His Dad has one too...they are so funny-they need to be on top of technology ;) but that's the world they live and thrive in!
Hi..I love Mitch Albom and I've read both books you mentioned..For One More Day was a great read..I missed the movie, but I'm sure I'll see the rerun..
Praying you feel MUCH better soon..Deena
