If you were graduating from high school, what would you like to hear from your commencement speaker and/or what would you say to the senior class if you were the commencement speaker?
THANKS so much in advance-you've all always come through strong in the past and I expect this will be no different!
Today, I am grateful for a lovely day with my almost sister-in-law, an afternoon with a dear friend and an evening with a special relative! I also am thankful for God, friends and family.

How cool that you threw that question out there. I would want to hear that "who you are" is more important than "what you do."
Hi there Rachel! Let's see, I always love speeches that actually 'speak' to me and of course, INSPIRE me!! To me, YOU are an inspiration. Just hearing your story at the Hospice convention...wow!! Now, speaking to a group of Seniors is probably something you could do quite easily because you are practically the same age! :-) For me, I think kids nowadays act as if they are so invincible, like NOTHING will ever happen to them. They don't seem to APPRECIATE all of the gifts and blessings that they have. Perhaps a speech that points to the importance of an "attitude of gratitude" would be helpful for those on a new journey, whether it be college or a new job. :-) Happy Thursday!!
It's probably important to talk about how what's inside -- one's passion and perseverance -- is what will contribute to life's success. I'd also mention that it's about living in the moment and enjoying the journey, not just racing toward some imagined finish line. Your experiences lend themselves to conveying both things.

I would have wanted to hear that if things do not go as planned that IT IS OKAY. At that age, I was so busy making plans, as well as my friends, that it never occurred to me things might not go that way. Things changed but I love my life the way it is now. So always, strive for happiness and don’t look at changes to your plans as negative things because you never know what great things will come out from them. You know this more than anyone! Oh, and a little humor always helps with the younger crowd! :) - Diana
What has life after high school taught you that will inspire and challenge high schoolers? That is the question. You've got tons of material to work with!
I remember wanting to hear something about what to expect from life, remember feeling a little like a deer in headlights!
The good things about my high school graduation speaker - I just remember a lot of talk about vision, passion and hope. Also some talk about always remembering the work that you did to get your degree, because for some people, a high school degree is the only degree that they will earn, and they deserve to be proud of their efforts. There was a challenge to be excellent, whether at work or at school.
