Adventures

Oh, Bob...

As I sat and talked with some old friends today, I realized something that has gotten me through all the not-so-fun stuff in life (and the good times too). I try to make a conscious decision that if life is too hard or too boring or whatever, that I will try to make it interesting for myself and those around me. My friends and family are happy to contribute and play along with these times.

I call them 'adventures' and sometimes even invent stories-as many of you know- just silly tales about the people around us in public or tales about ANYTHING. Like in Mary's case, the spider on the wall, in the middle of the night in Denmark became Bob the Spider to distract her from the horrendous back pain she was having. By the next morning, she and I had concocted his life story and his ancestors...pretty funny stuff when you are super tired in the middle of the night and in a foreign country!

It's the little things in life that get you through...truly and the people that can laugh about them too. So thanks to everyone!

I am truly blessed.

Today, I am thankful for: great times to help deal with the not-great times, friends, family and God!

Love,
R

Kind of like the family we created while studying for the textiles final that didn't really do either of us any good?

Ah yes...oh what a fun class though :). Not because of the class but because of good friends like you and getting it out of the way unbeknownst to me. Even though I was an "art student" and should not have been in there at the time, according to MamaK.

I totally agree with this post. I do the same thing (well similar at least). And sidenote: I bought this uber tiny pumpkin and named him Bob, he sits on my kitchen counter and always makes me smile. I had been wanting a pumpkin all October for Halloween, and then of course, we never got one. So the day after Halloween, we were at the market, and I grabbed the tiny pumpkin (for only 79c mind you), plopped him in my cart and declared that he was Bob, my late Halloween pumpkin, and we were going to love and cherish him, no ifs ands or buts about it. Mils (my love) just laughed and said 'okay' but I felt oddly victorious.

That probably is the most random story I've ever told you. Ugh, I need rest lol.

Regardless, I hope you had an AMAZING time at the luncheon and laughed loads because you really deserve it. :)

Whoa...I just realized that Bob is kind of a Christ figure. Salvation from pain...hung on a wall...oh that is so wrong! LOL I don't know WHAT I would do without laughter. I will laugh or cry with you (preferably both at the same time) ANY DAY!
