My dad left for work at exactly 7:35

I get pegged by Lori from LK-Made. Thanks for thinking of me!

Here are the rules:

1. Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages.)
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next three sentences.
5. Link back to the person who tagged you.

My dad left for work at exactly 7:35. Once he was gone, I scanned the paper, uninterested in the news, at a loss as to what to do next. I had no desire to go surfing, or even to leave the house, and I was wondering whether I should crawl back into bed to try to get some rest when I heard a car pull up the drive.

This is from the wonderful book I just read last week Dear John by Nicholas Sparks!

Today, I am grateful for: a lovely day with friends and family, a catnap, love and God.

I don't know what's weirder, the fact that I KNEW what book it was just from that first sentence, or because I got excited by the fact that you read it, or...well both. I didn't know you read Sparks! How did you like 'Dear John'? It's a departure from his usual prose that's for sure. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

And yes, I'm a nerdlette. We both know this.

Thanks, Rachel. It is interesting to look so closely at a book. I found these few sentences pretty interesting. So who was in the car?

Dee-Ha! I love Nicholas Sparks and have read most of his books! I liked Dear John so much I read til 4 in the morning the night I found out about Holly. It was a PERFECT escape even though it wasn't the perfect ending, it was more real life. What about your thoughts on it?? Also, never told you that I use baths and showers as a 'treat' and way to wash away stuff too-how symbolic! Good luck tonight!!

Lori-Yes. The girl in the car was his girlfriend and they had had a horrible fight and he hadn't slept all night. The reason his dad left exactly at 7:35 too is because they were figuring out his dad had a mild form of Asperger's syndrome. He had a very strict routine! Great book. I couldn't go to sleep the other night reading it! It's the happiest book but it's quite good.

Aw thanks love! The nerves are starting to creep up a bit. That or my new chemotherapy regime I started isn't agreeing with me. Probably both. Meh.

Now, as far as 'Dear John' goes, I LOVED it. I really did. I know a lot of people who didn't because it really is/was a departure from his normal prose but, I just totally got sucked in. I think I read it in less then two hours, I just swept through it one morning at like 4am when I couldn't sleep.

I really love Sparks, I mean, I'm usually pretty...not so much into the whole 'romance' books or books like that per say, but Sparks...I don't know. He's a totally different playing field. I just get sucked into this world and I love it.

What is your favorite work of his? If you have one. I have to admit, I have a HUGE soft spot for 'The Wedding'. I mean, when I finally realized what it was, I was crying SO hard.

I'm partial to The Notebook-liked it before it became the movie and all that. I also like The Wedding a lot too!!

Let me know how tonight goes!

Take along some Zofran pills!!

I LOVE Nicholas Sparks - he's the only author I actually have all of his books.
