Leroy Sievers

I was sad to learn that Leroy Sievers, writer of the NPR blog, My Cancer, has passed away. I wrote about his blog back in December.

It was definitely something I read each day and looked forward to. He had been through so many treatments for various tumors throughout his body from metastasized colon cancer. His courage and strength was something that many people looked up to, me included.

There is an article here about him.

Rest in peace, Leroy.

Today, I am grateful for a wonderful family, friends, husband and God...a little trip to the country and for catching up on some much needed sleep.

Thanks for sharing. This is quite the shock. Just today I've heard of a recurrance of a brilliant cancer warrior in Germany and now this. But really, it just makes me want to fight harder, have a bigger impact, be a better fundraiser. Whatever it takes, so that in the near future, we won't lose loved ones to cancer.

I guess some people are meant to be big time fundraisers, some people are meant to be amazing and inspiring speekers and advocates, and some people just have to work very hard to make even a small difference. That's fine. I've learned that I accept who I am as a cancer warrior, with all my limitations. At the end of the day, it's not all about how much you achieve, the most important thing is to be involved at all.

Hope you're doing good. How's married life? Still amazing? Has to be a sensational feeling to know that while you're being nominated as "Woman of the year", for someone you are the "Woman of his life"!

Hugs, Henrike.
